Church of Romanesque nature, from whose period and style only the vaulted chancel remains. This presents a décor with an unusual quality for the region.
In the chapel, various influences are blended, some from the buildings constructed on the left bank of the river Minho, with influence from the construction site of the Cathedral of Tui, while others originated from the Romanesque found on the Braga-Rates axis, which had the biggest impact on the basins of Tâmega and Douro.
The existing evidence points to the second quarter of the 13th century. Outside, it is still possible to observe the buttresses that support the now broken barrel vault.

The Sound
The recordings were all made using the same methodology, keeping the same distances between performers and using the same recording technique (AB Omni 40cm spacing)
Medium-size space with good reverb for small and medium-size ensembles.
The size of the main chapel and the fact that the organ could not be moved, limited the number and variety of possible layouts for the musicians.
Acoustically, the space is more flattering to medium/high frequencies, probably because of the tiles on the side walls.
There is ample room for the audience, although it is necessary to remove some benches to allow room for the musicians.
Strong points
-
One has an acoustic feeling of being in a greater space than what one sees.
-
Easy for the musicians to hear one another.
Weak points
-
Poor isolation from outside noise.
-
Smaller layout possibilities because of unmovable organ.

The Surroundings
A welcoming space with a vibrant local community that filled the concert. Surrounded by good services (very good food and accommodation). Despite being in a quiet area, the road is very close to the church and the noise of passing traffic can be heard from inside when the music and audience are quieter.
Strong points
-
Peaceful surroundings despite being close to the road.
-
Restaurants and accommodations within a 5 km radius.
-
Enthusiastic involvement of the local community (the concert was sold out despite being held on a stormy night).
Weak points
-
Proximity of the road to the building.
