Cardo-Roxo is a musical ensemble that collects its inspiration from Portuguese folk music, expanding its possibilities with new arrangements for various formations ranging from trio to octets and beyond.With 7 albums recorded, Cardo-Roxo is a reference group in the folk music scene with relevant work in the rescue and updating of Portuguese musical heritage and with dozens of concerts in some of the best festivals and concert halls in Portugal and Europe.
Since the beginning, 11 years ago, Cardo-Roxo found the support of some of the most important radio journalists working in the folk music area in Portugal, like Inês Almeida - Antena 2, Armando Carvalheda e Sofia Carvalheda - Antena 1, Carlos Ferreira - Diana fm, amongst others.
Their latest album, "Além do Rio" (Past the river), released in December 2024, is the culmination of a 2 years work and was recorded in 12 different monuments with outstanding natural acoustics.
